Meet the Team: Diana Albert

Welcome back to another edition of Red Rock’s employee spotlight! This week, we are featuring Diana “Dee” Albert. Diana was born and raised in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, WI. One of Jamaica’s largest parishes on the island’s southwest side is known as the Breadbasket or St. Best. Diana has a supervisory and business management certificate from a college in Jamaica. She started pursuing the possibility of traveling overseas to work and attend school. She joined her husband, who was living in New York City! Diana completed a certificate course in Real Estate at Hofstra University and obtained her Real Estate License with the New York State Division of Licensing. While working in the construction industry, she also completed several construction-related courses, e.g., a certificate in Construction Management from JBRC. Diana is a true veteran in the world of Real Estate and construction. She has spent 23 years in our industry, working mainly in accounting roles for various real estate developers and general contractors.   Before joining Red Rock, Diana was a senior project accountant with UAG and a general contractor in New York City specializing in ground-up mixed-use and residential construction projects. In her role, she worked with a project team consisting of subcontractors, developers/owners, banks, and an internal project team. Her most recent project in this role was working on the Bronx Point Project with 540 rental units and the home to the new Hip Hop Museum and parking garage, among other amenities in the Bronx! She also has several significant projects under her belt, such as being the project accountant during the construction of the CitizenM Times Square Hotel and The James Hotel in New York, working with Brack Capital, the developer of these projects.

After spending almost a quarter century in New York City, Diana and her husband, Lawrence’ LA’ Albert, decided to leave the Big Apple. They spent time driving down the east coast of the U.S., checking out potential places to move. Despite having never been to South Carolina before January 2022, Diana liked what she saw in Columbia, SC, and found an excellent school system for her son, Liam. Only two months after driving through Columbia for the first time, Diana and LA closed on a house in March of ’22 and moved to Cola in June! Shortly after, Diana joined the Red Rock team as a Staff Accountant. Diana oversees all the financials for current projects at Red Rock. Her roles include but are not limited to putting together the monthly draw, posting all the job costs and payments, and reviewing all the incoming invoices for pursuits and channeling them to the correct department for review and approval. She has now been on the Red Rock team for ten months!

Diana has a son, Liam (8), and a daughter, Rochelle (27). Rochelle lives in Missouri with her husband and two children.

Diana is often told that her celebrity look-alike is that of former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Diana’s favorite part of work is ensuring everything is balanced and making people happy. Her main goal for 2023 is to dive deeper into the finance side of Red Rock pursuits and construction projects. Her favorite quote is, “Reach for the stars, and if you fall, you will land somewhere between the clouds.” Diana typically starts her morning by listening to some gospel music! Her go-to song is ‘Fear is not My Future’ by Maverick City. You might not know that Diana is an Ordained Deacon, and she used to also sing in the choir at church in New York City! Diana’s peers describe her as kind, gentle, caring, and always willing to help.  

 Diana has been a valuable addition to the Red Rock team, and we can’t put into words what her experience, and more so, the welcoming and supportive persona she brings to work every day means to this company! We are very proud to have someone like Diana on our team, and we are excited to see her grow in her role here at Red Rock.
