Meet the Team: Brandon Smith

Welcome back to another Employee Spotlight! Our Red Rock featured Employee of the Week is none other than our Chief Financial Officer, Brandon Smith! Brandon was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduating from the Marist School in Atlanta, Brandon attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology. He then attended the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his master’s in business administration. Brandon is an active volunteer for the Cru Military Ministry at Fort Jackson and a Shandon Baptist Church member.
Brandon has been the CFO of Red Rock Developments for 15 years. Brandon’s background before working at Red Rock was in Investment Banking. As a Wachovia Securities’ Real Estate Investment Banking Group member for nearly a decade, Brandon executed over 50 financing and advisory transactions representing more than $20 billion in funding for public and private REITs, private real estate owners, and corporate real estate subsidiaries. As CFO and Managing Partner of Red Rock Developments, with over 23 years of experience, Brandon oversees the company’s financial operations and fund management. In addition to driving Red Rock’s corporate finance strategy, Brandon is responsible for sourcing capital and strengthening capital relationships. Brandon’s areas of expertise include but are not limited to, net lease financing, portfolio strategy, and financial modeling and analysis. Brandon provides Red Rock with diverse real estate finance skills to help maximize returns to investors.
Brandon is married to his wife, Suzanne, and together they have three children: Lilly (20), Jack (18), and Bridget (17). They also have two dogs named Belle and Finn! Brandon and his family reside in Columbia, SC, where he works from the Red Rock HQ. Brandon goes to work each day excited to deal with the diversity of daily challenges this industry provides. As he can attest, no two days are the same. You can find Brandon on the golf course working on his game when he is not working! His favorite week of the year is Masters Week! Most people might not know that Brandon was a high school biology teacher in the early part of his career. Brandon frequently reflects on this quote: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
